This course provides an overview of violence within relationships and family systems. The dynamics of violence within dating and intimate partner relationships, as well as within families are explored. Vulnerable populations are highlighted in the assignments and during class discussion. Transdisciplinary theories, perspectives, models and frameworks are foundational to class discussions. The unique role of professional nurses in recognizing, treating, and preventing violence is emphasized.
